A crisp alpine wind greets teams as they step out in Plužine and begin the climb toward Maglić. The trail first threads through mixed beech and fir, the trees leaning like sentries into the Piva Canyon, then opens to steep, rocky slopes where the mountain’s limestone ribs push upward. Higher, ridge walking feels exposed and elemental; the summit holds a full 360-degree sweep of the Dinaric Alps, with Trnovačko Lake below carving a perfect heart into the landscape.
