Adventure tips

Hydrate before you startBring a refillable water bottle—the pace includes stops but Madrid’s summer heat can be intense; refill in Retiro Park fountains.

Watch for cobblestones and tram tracksSlow down and cross tracks at right angles to avoid getting wheels caught—basic bike-handling prevents falls.

Wear closed-toe shoesPedals and city streets favor sneakers or flats with grip rather than sandals to protect your toes and improve control.

Time your ride outside midday in summerBook morning or late-afternoon slots to avoid the hottest hours and crowded squares for better photos and comfort.

Recommended gear

Helmet: Provided on the tour but bring your own for comfort and best fit.
Refillable water bottle: Staying hydrated is critical, especially in warm months; parks have refill points.
Closed-toe, comfortable shoes: Better pedal grip and foot protection for cobbles and quick stops.
Light wind/rain jacket: Spring and autumn afternoons can turn windy or drizzly—pack a compact shell.
