A warm Atlantic wind lifts salt and spray over the open-top jeep as the vehicle climbs from Funchal’s sheltered harbor toward the island’s wild northwest. Drivers thread along cliff-hugging roads, and terraces of old stone drop away to the sea; the engine’s rumble is punctuated by guide commentary and the occasional call to look left—where basalt cliffs and sea stacks frame small fishing coves.

Pickup is provided from the Funchal area (confirm pick-up point 24 hours prior); itinerary returns to the same area at day’s end.
Pools are generally safe in calm conditions and when the guide permits swimming—avoid entry during rough seas or strong surf and follow local warnings.
