The brand-new Pinnacle Ridge Lodge is the fulfillment of a 25-year dream for the owners, Richard and Vickie Norman and their daughter, the general manager, Beth-Anne N. Driskill. The Normans purchased this property in 2000 with an existing 1960’s era duplex but have always wanted to raze it and replace it with a new top-of-the-line lodge. They have been actively working on this project for the past three years and broke ground for it in January 2023. It is anticipated to be open for rental by late summer 2025. When completed, it will be one of the finest accommodations found anywhere in this part of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Pinnacle Ridge Lodge is the new centerpiece for The Retreat at Crabtree Falls. It features a beautiful rustic Blue Ridge Mountain style with enormous 12” x 12” by 26’ western red cedar columns on the front and huge exposed timber framing in a giant thirty-one-foot-tall cathedral ceiling in the great room. Other significant features are an “indoor/outdoor” stone fireplace to warm the dining room on the inside and a large flagstone patio on the exterior. A western red cedar floating stair connects the main level with the upstairs. Beside the 31’ tall great room, all other ceilings are 10’ in height on the main level and 9’ upstairs.
The lodge features five bedrooms, four of which have large, private screen rooms that feature porch swing day beds for relaxing. Each has direct access to its own ensuite bathroom. One of the bedrooms is a “bunk room” and features two queen beds with single bunk beds over them.
The back patio features a furnished conversation area around the fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. The enormous fully furnished front deck faces Pinnacle Ridge and is partially covered to be enjoyed even on rainy days. There is a gas firepit on the front deck as well. The kitchen is well-appointed with a GE Café 6 burner gas stove with a griddle, large GE Monogram refrigerator and two GE Monogram dishwashers. There is also a quartz center island and a large sink for washing pots and pans.
The beautiful upstairs loft features a stone gas fireplace for enjoying while watching TV or playing board games. There is a washer and dryer unit in the loft area as well. The décor was furnished by Arhaus and consists of the highest quality couches, chairs, tables, bedding, etc. Mattresses and box springs are of the highest hotel quality as are the linens that are provided. There are ample large screen TVs for viewing. The lodge features parking for four vehicles and it accommodates 14 people. The lodge brings our total sleeping capacity at The Retreat to 47. A large flagstone patio on the front of the lodge overlooks Pinnacle Ridge and will provide the space needed to host small weddings and other events of up to 100 people with nearly half able to stay on the premises.
