Dawn lifts off the Lowveld and the lodge’s heated plunge pool steams as your shuttle slips into the dry riverbed roads of the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. The first safari hour is a study in light and movement: elephants crossing with slow, deliberate steps, a lion yawning into morning heat, and the scrublands daring you to keep watching.
