Dawn in the High Atlas arrives cool and precise: mule bells click on switchback trails, and a fleece-clad guide points the way up a rib of scree toward Jebel Toubkal. The trail rises from Imlil’s stone terraces through cedar stands and Berber hamlets, then opens onto the high amphitheater where the refuge perches at ~3,200 m.
