You step out of Aix-en-Provence and the road unfurls into the warm Provençal light: hilltop villages appear like chapters, each with its own stone voice. In a single day the tour threads Ansouis’ fortress lane, Lourmarin’s Renaissance calm, the cliff-perched geometry of Gordes and Roussillon’s ochre cliffs — landscapes that push you to slow down and look closely.
easy.
8 hours.
Suitable for most fitness levels; involves short walks on uneven village streets and stairs
The tour departs from Aix-en-Provence and returns there at the end of the day; pickup location is confirmed at booking.
The route is flexible — the driver can adjust time spent at each village to match interests or mobility needs.
Bottled water is provided, but lunches and snacks are not included so plan to buy food in village cafés or bring a picnic.
The vehicle accommodates strollers and infant seats; note that village streets themselves are often cobbled and steep, which may limit full accessibility.
Many Luberon villages developed as fortified hilltop settlements in medieval times; Roussillon’s ochre economy shaped its architecture and local trade.
Much of the area lies within the Luberon Regional Natural Park, where tourism is managed to protect dry-stone walls, native scrubland and traditional agriculture.
Eden Trip operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
