You push off from NOC’s Pigeon River outpost and the river immediately takes charge — playful waves licking at the bow, a steady current urging you downstream beneath the folded ridgelines of the northern Great Smoky Mountains. The sound here is river-first: water on rock, guide calls, and the occasional cheer as kids leap into an eddy for a quick swim.
