Long-Range Precision at SSAA Hill Top: Book 50–500m Lanes for Club Shoots

Set into the rolling eucalyptus country of the Southern Highlands, SSAA Hill Top Shooting Complex sits at 430 Wattle Ridge Rd in Hill Top, New South Wales. The complex is a purpose-built long-distance shooting facility with 60 numbered lanes and configurable firing points ranging from 50 meters up to 500 meters, a rare stretch of measured, backstopped ranges suitable for precision rifle work. Walk the gravel lane to the 500m firing line and you hear the staccato thump of impacts on paper and the low, measured commands of Range Officers; this is not a public firing range — it’s a training ground for clubs and serious shooters who come to test load consistency, zero rifles, and practice long-range fundamentals. What sets Hill Top apart is scale and access. On the same property clubs and individuals can select 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m, 385m or full 500m lanes, allowing progressive drills and match-style stages without leaving base. Sixty lanes mean you rarely feel crowded during a club booking, and the 500m office at the range — 430 Wattle Ridge Rd — acts as a solid operational hub for booking, safety briefings, and conservative weather decisions. Legacy Club access makes this listing exclusive: only approved clubs may reserve lanes under this specific product, ensuring events run to familiar standards and local shooting culture remains respected. Practical details you need to know: bring your original firearm licence and permits, valid ID, enclosed footwear, and required personal protective equipment — eye and hearing protection are mandatory. The range enforces strict weapon handling rules and a zero-tolerance safety policy; Range Officers direct all live-fire procedures, and firearms must remain uncased only at the bench with muzzles downrange. There are no on-site restaurants, so pack water, snacks and a lunch. Beyond the firing line the site sits amid native eucalypt and rolling pasture where kangaroos and raptors are common sights; shooters are reminded that firing at wildlife is illegal and monitored. The complex functions within the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia framework and serves local clubs including Precision Rifle Club, Illawarra branches and more, making it a regional center for competition, training and stewardship. Whether you’re dialing in a long-range zero or running a club match, Hill Top offers measured distance, disciplined Range Officers, and the kind of quiet rural setting that lets you focus on fundamentals. Book under your club, expect straightforward administration at arrival, and come prepared to shoot safely — here, distance is the challenge and precision is the reward. Payments are currently processed on arrival at reception, and for pre-booking questions contact [email protected] or phone +61 2 3824 8888 to confirm lane availability and club eligibility. Arrive early to complete paperwork and safety briefings promptly.
