About
This is a unique and exciting activity that will expand your mind by exposing you to the diverse ecosystem hiding under the sea when the sun sets. We will commonly encounter camouflaged octopus stalking their prey, pods of lobsters scurrying over rock reefs and round stingrays undulating their wings through the kelp forest like alien birds. We may be joined by playful harbor seals who are excited to utilize our lights to catch fish right in front of us.
We will meet at the top of the hill, select each diver's equipment and then gear up on at the beach in full neoprene wetsuits complete with kevlar dive gloves, hoods, booties, mask & snorkel and fins to swim out from the beach.
The California spiny lobster is nocturnal and we will use extremely bright, waterproof dive lights to spot them while they are out feeding. These lobsters can be caught in shallow water and may be seen from the surface while snorkeling; however, we will need to dive down to catch them by hand.
After diving, we will have an opportunity to steam lobsters, prepare uni and relish the ocean's bounty at the shoreline.
