What to Expect

Introduction to Coffee: Our guide will introduce you to the history of coffee, and the brand of Lion Coffee. Learn about the journey of coffee beans from farm to cup.

  • Roasting Facility Tour: Explore one of the biggest coffee roasting facilities in Hawaii. Witness the roasting machines in action and understand how temperature and time impact the flavor profile of coffee.
  • Coffee Tasting: Enjoy a guided tasting session where you’ll savor a variety of coffee beans from around the world. Learn to identify different flavor notes and the intricacies of coffee cupping.
  • Cafe Visit: Conclude the tour with a visit to our coffee shop, where you can relax and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of your favorite coffee.
  • General Store: Don’t forget to check out our general store, where you can purchase coffee beans, merchandise, and brewing equipment to recreate the experience at home.

Tour Guideline:

  • The duration of the tour is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Maximum number of participants per session: 6

  • Minimum age 12 years old: even if the child is going to be in a carrier or stroller, we cannot allow children 11years old and younger in the roastery.

  • From the viewpoint of information management, in principle, the bringing in and use of photography equipment is prohibited in the factory. If any of the participants bring their own, the tour will be canceled.

  • The Lion Coffee Roasting Factory is a food factory, you need to make the following preparations when entering the factory:

  1. Personal belongings (including mobile phones) need to be put away in lockers, however, the size of the lockers is limited, so please refrain from participating with large luggage.

  2. In addition, please remove jewelries (i.e. rings w/stones, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc.) and leave them in the locker.

  3. You will be asked to wear a hairnet on your head, and if you have a beard, you will be asked to wear a beard cover.

  4. Please wear clothes with sleeves when participating in the tour. If the participant shows up to the tour with clothing without sleeves, we will ask you not to join, or ask you to purchase a shirt with sleeves so you can put it on before entering the roastery.

  5. If you are wearing sandals or other items with a design that exposes toes, you will be asked to wear a foot cover.

  6. You will be required to sign the "Risk Acknowledgement, Waiver and Liability Exemption Document" and the "Manufacturing Control and Quality Control Standards Consent Document" when you arrive on the day of the event.

  • The aisles in the factory are narrow and there are many places where the floor is uneven, so wheelchairs, strollers, canes, etc. are not allowed to participate. Thank you for your understanding.

  • There are cases where the machine on the production line is unavoidably stopped due to inspection, etc.

  • We may be forced to close due to natural disasters. In that case, please note that we will contact you at the earliest possible timing, including the day of the event. - Please note that Hawaii Coffee Company will not be able to compensate for any damage (cancellation fee for rental car, etc.) caused in such cases.

  • We will be walking in the factory with uneven floors, so please refrain from wearing high-heeled footwear.

  • Please refrain from bringing pets.

  • Visiting while being intoxicated is strictly prohibited.

  • Please note that in order not to cause inconvenience to other customers, we will start the tour when the start time comes.

  • Please refrain from participating if you have symptoms such as fever or cough on the day of the event.

  • Forklifts and other vehicles will also run along the tour route in the factory, so please be sure to act with the staff in the factory and follow the instructions. Please note that if you do not comply, we may judge that safety cannot be ensured and cancel the tour.

  • Closed on New Years Day(January 1), President’s Day(Third Monday in February), Memorial Day(Last Monday in May), King Kamehameha Day(June 11), Juneteenth National Independence Day(June 19), Independence Day(July 4), Labor Day(First Monday in September), Veterans Day(November 11), Thanksgiving(Fourth Thursday in November), Christmas day(December 25), and New Years Eve(December 31)

Customers will receive a full refund with 48-hour advance notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by email(RoasteryToursEN@hicoffeeco.com) to request a cancellation. Cancellation within 48hrs before the tour time(regardless of the reason, including flight delays, not agreeing to "Good Manufacturing Practice", etc.) or no-shows will be charged the full fare.
