You start on a cool quay, the canal water nudging the edge of the street as you open the Loquiz app and step into a role. The city’s stone facades and narrow bridges become clues; pigeons cut across your path like timed obstacles and the scent of fresh stroopwafels signals a coffee break. This is a city game that asks you to read the map, read people and read the city.

Leiden is home to the Netherlands’ oldest university (1575) and played a key role in the 1573–1574 Siege of Leiden; its historic center grew from reclaimed peat and canal engineering.
Respect historic masonry and canal edges—stay on public paths, avoid littering and keep noise low in residential areas to preserve the city’s character.
