The path to the petting zoo opens with the hum of city traffic falling away and the air taking on a faint hay-sweet scent. Within minutes of leaving Beirut you step into a compact compound where goats brush shoulders with visitors, parrots chatter from their perches and handlers guide careful interactions. The experience is tactile and immediate: hands reach for rabbit fur, small fingers hold out pellets, and a zookeeper explains each animal’s habits.
