The Goodsprings area grew from early 20th-century mining; the Pioneer Saloon (opened 1913) remains a living relic of the mining and gambler culture that shaped this corner of the Mojave.
The desert crust and washes are fragile—stay on designated routes, avoid disturbing plants and pack out all trash; wild horse herds are protected and should never be approached.
