Operated by WeWhale Canarias SL · Puerto Calero, Las Palmas
Just off the coast of Lanzarote, in the harbor town of Puerto Calero, WeWhale Canarias SL offers travelers an environmentally conscious window into ocean life with their Whale & Dolphin Observation tours. Situated in the Canary Islands, a volcanic archipelago off northwest Africa, this operation delivers 3 to 4 hours aboard a specially designed noise and emission-free catamaran, putting you in the perfect position to encounter some of the Atlantic's most captivating marine mammals.
Puerto Calero itself is a small port town on Lanzarote’s southwestern shore, known primarily as a marina hub but also as a gateway to marine excursions that highlight the island’s rich biodiversity. The remarkable underwater topography around Lanzarote, shaped by volcanic activity, creates fertile feeding grounds attracting dolphins, pilot whales, and occasionally other cetaceans.
What makes WeWhale Canarias unique is their commitment to low-impact boating—a silent catamaran platform that significantly reduces disturbance to marine life. Equipped with a hydrophone, you can listen to whale and dolphin vocalizations beneath the waves, complemented by a 360-degree camera that brings these encounters alive for all ages on board. Whether it’s a splash from a playful bottlenose dolphin or the majestic glide of a long-finned pilot whale, sightings here tend to be intimate and enlightening.
The guides onboard provide in-depth commentary on local cetacean species, behavior, and conservation efforts, linking the region’s natural heritage with active whale protection. This sustainable interaction fits seamlessly into the Canary Islands’ growing outdoor adventure identity, attracting travelers keen on responsible wildlife experiences without sacrificing excitement.
For visitors staying in Lanzarote or flying through Gran Canaria, these tours promise a thrilling, purposeful escape onto the Atlantic waves. WeWhale Canarias invites you to not just witness the ocean’s giants but to connect with them in a way that respects and preserves their ocean home.
