You step from the rattle of the Kathmandu road into a narrower world: the Langtang valley compresses the sky, and the river dares you forward beneath a string of prayer flags. The trail climbs through rhododendron and hemlock, passes yak pastures and a few stone teahouses, and finally opens to Kyanjin Gompa — a cluster of monasteries, yak cheese huts and an icefall that breathes cold down from Langtang Lirung.

Good aerobic fitness and experience with full days of hiking at altitude; able to walk 6–8 hours on uneven terrain.
