Experience the thrill of sailing with a hands-on, two-day course designed for beginners. Limited to just four students, you'll learn essential skills on a fully equipped Hunter 33. Complete the Basic Keelboat certification and gain the confidence to sail independently, plus enjoy a year of American Sailing Association membership.

This is a 2-day, hands-on course covering the basics of sailing and boat handling. There is a maximum of 4 students per class, and class is taught on a well equipped Hunter 33 with roller-furling main sail and jib. Class starts at 9:30am and continues until 5pm for two consecutive days. Let us know if you need flexibility arriving late or leaving early.
When you complete Basic Keelboat certification, you will have enough practical experience to start day sailing on your own. Course fee includes study text, log book, and a one year membership in the American Sailing Association. After you complete ASA 101, you're ready to become a SailTime member!
Course Content: Getting Underway, Boat Balance, Docking, Securing the Boat, Points of Sail, Tacking & Jibing, Sail Trim, Controlling Angle of Heel, Heaving to, Reefing, Crew overboard Drill, Solo Checkout, and Written Exam. Prerequisite: None
Wear layered, quick-drying clothing and bring sun protection since you'll be outdoors for the entire day.
Give yourself extra time to settle in, meet the crew, and prepare for the start of the course.
