Descripción e itinerario
Descubriremos el Barrio de El Poblenou en una extraordinaria ruta cultural. Analizaremos toda la historia de este barrio tan grande y diverso. En la época romana El Poblenou era un lugar de paso entre Badalona y Barcelona. Tierras pantanosas poco habitables. En la edad media el espacio que ocupa el Poblenou estaba destinado a zona de cultivos gracias al afluente de agua del Rec Comtal.
En el siglo 18 el barrio estará ocupado por algunas casetas de pescadores. Hoy dicho espacio representa el casco antiguo del barrio (El Taulat). Con la llegada de la Revolución Industrial las fábricas textiles necesitaban espacio y agua para blanquear y extender los tejidos textiles. Será entonces cuando El Barrio de El Poblenou se comienza a urbanizar con la aparición de fábricas. Veremos en la actual Biblioteca «Manuel Arranz», como funcionaba la industria Can Saladrigas.
En el siglo XIX con la caída de las murallas el barrio de El Poblenou absorberá toda la industria textil, alimenticia, talleres de impresión, gasoductos, talleres de ferrocarril entre tantos. Sería conocida El Manchester Catalán. Emergerá un fuerte tejido social, y cooperativista. Explicaremos la historia de la Cooperativa más importante que tuvo España: «La Flor de Maig» con casi 2000 socios. Describiremos la relación de El Poblenou con el Mar. La creación en 1912 de la playa Mar Bella, que pronto fue el lugar donde proliferó el chabolismo.
Veremos el desarrollo urbanístico desde el siglo XIX, el Plan Cerdà, los JJOO y el controvertido 22@. La historia del Cementerio del Este y muchísimas cosas mas.
