About

Begin your experience by meeting and greeting our alpacas. You’ll go right in the field so you can love on them while learning all about them. You may even garner a very special alpaca kiss! Next you will visit our on-site fiber mill for an in-depth tour where you will learn a step-by-step process of transforming raw fleeces into beautiful yarns, rovings, rug yarns and batts. You will conclude your tour in our Gift Shop where you’ll find a nice selection of items made from alpaca.

More info

Our alpacas have known nothing but love from their human friends and they enjoy meeting you as much as you will enjoy meeting them. Once you get your fill of alpaca lovin’ we will head on over to our fiber mill.

Painted Sky Fiber Mill is the only full-service fiber mill in Maryland. You will travel the same journey as the fiber does and learn the purpose of each piece of equipment needed in order to make the useable commodities (yarns, rovings, batts and rug yarns) needed to make the finished goods found in our Gift Shop.

In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be conducted indoors in the barn.
