Duration: 9hrs

Embark on an enchanting journey through the iconic locations featured in Outlander and other famous films. Our Outlander Day Tour invites you to delve into the heart of Scotland’s storied past and stunning landscapes, making it a must for history buffs and fans alike.

Tour Locations:

The adventure begins at Lallybroch, also known as Midhope Castle, the historic home of Jamie Fraser. Here, you can only admire the exterior due to the building’s delicate condition, but a short scenic walk through the nearby woods leads you to the infamous hiding spot of ‘Red Jamie’. Just a short drive away is Blackness Castle, which doubles as Fort William in Outlander. This is the site where Jamie receives 200 lashes from Captain Black Jack Randall, a poignant scene that stays with many viewers.

Next, we visit Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1542. The palace served as the backdrop for the harrowing scenes of Wentworth Prison in the series. After exploring the palace, consider stopping for lunch at The Four Marys pub in Linlithgow, a historic venue where chloroform was first created.

Our journey continues to Doune Castle, known to Outlander fans as Castle Leoch. This castle has also been a filming location for Game of Thrones (Winterfell), Outlaw King (Castle Douglas), and the comedic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Each of these productions highlights the castle’s versatile and dramatic atmosphere.

The final stop is the Culross Medieval Village, which portrayed Crainsmuir in Outlander. The village streets and historic ambiance will transport you back in time, making it easy to see why this location was chosen for the show.
