Our farmer is a producer of a subspecies of banana originated and grown extensively on the island of Madeira, where it is an integral part of the landscape.. Traditionally smaller than the South American banana but accentuated on the palate, this modest fruit packs a more intense flavour and is a staple of local culinary tradition. Our farm its the oldest farm in Madeira. It dates back to the 15th century, at the beginning of agriculture in island. It has always been a place linked to agricultural activity, in the past these lands provided fruits and vegetables for home consumption and were grown for commerce and later, malvasia grapes and sugar cane.
