Your Kiwi Dundee Adventures guide will pick you up from your accommodation or arranged meeting point and tour over spectacular volcanic mountains into the beautiful Waikato region, famous for its dairy farming and international horse breeding.
Enjoy a guided tour of the real “Middle Earth” on the most picturesque, private sheep farm near Matamata, where you will visit the movie set where “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” were filmed. Visit the delightful tavern built for the movies for a quick refreshment at the conclusion of your tour.
After lunch at Hobbiton, we tour back to the Coromandel Peninsula stopping and exploring the site of an old gold mine, and marvel at the engineering from over 100 years ago. We also stop at an active gold mine.
We’ll visit a beautiful natural beach for wildlife spotting and stop at a magnificent waterfall in the mountain ranges, before returning you to your accommodation. This tour also has an option to finish at Rotorua should you prefer. We can also finish at other destinations by arrangement, please enquire.
