This trip features the park’s signature highland meadows, where hardy native plants mingle with roaming ponies that’ve become a symbol of the region. As you trek, you’ll pass through distinctive geologic formations, such as the jagged granite outcrops and wide-open grassy balds that create a striking contrast against the lush greenery below. The area’s rich history dates back to indigenous settlements and later settlements that used these open lands for grazing, now preserved within park boundaries.
What makes this adventure so special is not just the terrain, but the wildlife and sense of wilderness that pervades the area. Wild ponies roam freely, unbothered by visitors, offering perfect photo ops.
