The Trip: It is primarily an exploration trip of the stone-built old quarter of Kakopetria village and of Unesco World Heritage Agios Nicolaos tis Stegis painted church. Depending on travelers’ preferences and time availability, there may be possibilities to do a walk-in Troodos (eg Artemis), have a meal at a village restaurant or visit other attractions on the way (depending on pickup location).
Pickup time: To be agreed with the travelers. Usually, it is at 09:15.
Pickup location: We either meet at Troodos Square, or Kakopetria, or at an agreed place in Limassol (eg hotel, etc, not at ports).
Hike on Artemis trail (8 km / 5 miles, flat and easy), the highest elevation trail in Cyprus, covered with unique flora. It is barren on many stretches and characterised by black pines and endemic Troodos junipers. Usually it offers excellent vistas to many parts of the island and to coasts from Limassol to Morphou bay.
Meander inside the picturesque old part of Kakopetria village - visit old olive press, an old church and watermill. Take a short walk along a shaded stream opposite the old part of Kakopetria village. Cyprus coffee on a coffee shop veranda overlooking the stream is highly recommended (as is a fresh trout meal at a nearby restaurant).
Visit an 11th century UNESCO World Heritage site at Agios Nicolaos tis Stegis painted church, a former monastery where only the chapel survives (closed on Mondays). The frescoes are superb, dating from the 11th century onward.
Enjoy a customisable route on the top of Cyprus, combining some of the best nature and cultural heritage the island has to offer.
As always, our trips are customisable. If Artemis is snow covered, we do not do the walk. We may propose another walk.
Because of its relatively high elevation, Artemis trail is usually doable also in summer.
Transportation: As a rule the guide would be able to give a free ride. The car has a usual private licence. Guiding time starts when the travellers meet the guide.
Guiding the trip in general and guiding the walks.
