6-8 Hours
Join Beer Hiking Bavaria author Rich Carbonara for a trip to the brewing heartland: to some of the finest small breweries in the Bamberg surroundings. Though Bamberg is home to some of the greatest breweries anywhere, locals know there are even more only a short trip away.
This express route is designed for those not wishing to hike a lot but still want to get into the Franconian countryside and enjoy some village breweries. There are five along the 9 km/5.5 mile rural route.
Note there is 185m/600 ft ascent & descent over the course of the hike.
*Please note that small breweries take vacations even during the summer and sometimes even close for a day on a whim. While not likely, it is possible that a planned stop might be closed.
