A magical trip that takes you to the mouth of Yarrunga Creek, flowing from Fitzroy Falls downstream into Lake Yarrunga. On the way you will glide through a forest of once majestic gums that are now exposed as guardians of the peace and tranquillity that is the Sunken Forest.
The trip starts at Bendeela, heads West toward Beehive Point, then into the Yarrunga Creek waterway. The trip back is a return trip to Bendeela This is also an outstanding Bass fishing area given the number of hiding spots frequented by this wonderful native freshwater sport fish.
Participants are provided with well-maintained, high quality kayaks or canoes, paddles and lifejackets.
Water levels and creekbed conditions can be unpredictable; protective footwear is essential for comfort and safety.
Nights can be very dark along the shore; a reliable light source is necessary for safe camp navigation.
There are no resupply points along the route, so ensure you’re well-stocked for the full journey.
