You push through a curtain of glossy leaves and the jungle closes behind you — the river ahead hisses, daring you to cross. Small ladders and slick boulders punctuate the route; at one turn the guide hands you a rope and asks you to pull yourself into a shadowed cave. Then the water opens and La Leona pours into view, a sudden vertical sheet framed by black rock.

Moderate fitness — able to handle short ladders, stream crossings, and uphill scrambling for brief sections.
Older children (able to follow safety instructions and handle ladders) can join, but it’s not recommended for very young kids due to ropes, ladders and slippery terrain.
Basic comfort in water is useful; life jackets are provided for sections where deeper water may be present, but continuous swimming is not required.
Closed-toe grippy shoes, quick-dry clothes, and a light rain layer; leave jewelry and loose items secured.
