A pale Arctic light strips the birches bare as you step from the minivan onto packed snow and wind-sculpted ice. The canyon throat of Korouoma opens ahead, a jagged ribbon of vertical cliffs and frozen cascades that push and arrest the winter air. Your guide points the route; the group moves deliberately, boots crunching and breath fogging under the sky.
