A low winter sun cuts across Korouoma’s cliff edges as you step from the van, cold air filling your lungs. The canyon’s vertical walls drop into a narrow valley where waterfalls freeze into pillars of ice that dare you to look closer. In summer the same floor is threaded with a meandering stream and resprouting birch and pine; in autumn the slopes flare with ochre and rust.
