Adventure tips

Plan for transit to RokkoMt. Rokko requires a short bus or cable-car transfer from central Kobe—confirm return options so you don’t miss the last descent.

Bring layered clothingCoastal breezes and higher-elevation chill on Rokko mean a light jacket or windbreaker is useful year-round.

Keep hydration and cashWhile many stops accept cards, small shops and food stalls may prefer cash; carry water for uphill sections.

Reserve time for photographyKitano’s mansions and Rokko viewpoints are prime photo spots—arrive early at popular sites to avoid crowds.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Supportive shoes for cobbled streets, park paths, and viewpoint platforms.
Light rain jacket or windbreaker: Spring can be windy and damp near the bay and on Rokko’s slopes.
Daypack with water and snacks: Keeps hands free during walking and holds purchases or layers.
Camera or smartphone with extra battery: Wide views and architectural details reward good photo gear and spare power.
