The day begins at Tung Yee Peng pier with the boat easing away from Ko Lanta’s shore as the sea nudges the hull forward. Limestone islands rise like vertical cliffs from a glassy horizon; gulls call and the salty air pushes inland. At Koh Aung passengers step ashore for quick photo stops, then the boat threads into the shadow of Ghost Island—Skull Cave—where fossil-pocked stalactites hang like a low ceiling and the water murmurs against the cave mouth.
moderate.
7 hours.
Moderate fitness: able to paddle for short periods, climb steps into caves and handle occasional choppy water
The tour runs about seven hours and typically includes hotel pickup/drop-off, boat transfers, lunch at a mangrove restaurant, guide services, kayaking around Talabeng, and cave visits.
Non-swimmers can join but should wear a life jacket and stay near the guide or on the main boat; children are usually allowed but supervision and basic water comfort are required.
Skull Cave has steps and uneven surfaces—there is minimal climbing but it’s not recommended for people with serious back or heart issues.
Dry season (roughly November–April) offers calmer seas and clearer snorkeling; monsoon months can be windier and bring rougher water.
Ko Lanta has long been a fishing and seafaring community; local longtail boat culture and seafood traditions reflect generations of coastal living.
Mangrove paddles highlight sensitive coastal ecosystems—stick to marked channels, avoid stepping on roots, and choose reef-safe sunscreen to reduce impact.
