About This Adventure

Join our exciting 3-day Kids Summer Surf Program at Te Arai Beach, where children aged 7-16 can learn to surf in a fun and safe environment. With expert instructors, kids progress daily from beginners to confident wave riders, all while enjoying the stunning beach and building essential ocean skills.

Our Kids Summer Surf program allows kids ages 7-16 to learn surfing and progress over 3 days of coaching!

All surfboards and wetsuits provided or bring your own.

Operating from 9.30am to 11am every week right through the summer school holidays at Te Arai beach. The #1 local beach, pristine white sand, untouched, with consistent ocean conditions. Changing rooms and toilets available.

Overview:

We progress every surfer through to get their surfing skills sharpened over 3 lessons. This is a fun, holistic and challenging program!

Outline:

  • Beach awareness, understanding the wind and waves, staying safe at the beach.
  • Surfboard design and use, sea entry and correct surfboard handling.
  • Catching waves with correct body and hand position, stopping your surfboard.
  • Catching waves with paddling, learning the pop up to stand technique.
  • Standing surfing position and riding a wave for as long as possible.
  • Trimming the bard for speed and turning
  • Timing & takeoff on green waves
  • Generating speed on the wave
  • Front side and back side turns

We meet directly at Te Arai Beach Reserve at your lesson time

Adventure Tips

Arrive Early to Settle In

Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the lesson to meet instructors and get ready without rush.

Bring Sun Protection

Use sunscreen, a hat, and UV-protective rash gear to protect young surfers during morning sessions.

Stay Hydrated

Pack a water bottle to keep kids hydrated through active sessions on the beach and in the water.

Dress for Changing Weather

Bring warm clothes and towels for after surfing, as ocean breezes can cool down quickly.
