Learn to control the kite in the steady coastal winds of Rodanthe with this focused intro kiteboarding lesson. Perfect for beginners ready to catch their first gust on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
2.5 hr Intro to Kiteboarding Lesson
Experience the thrill of kite flying as you begin on the beach, learning essential wind concepts and safety. Then, dive into the water to master kite control with an inflatable 4-line kite. This unique lesson focuses solely on flying, ensuring an immersive and hands-on adventure without distractions.
We start on the beach going over wind concepts, equipment set up, safety & terminology. Then we move to the water to work on launching, landing, body drags, pulling your safety release and general kite control with an inflatable 4-line kiteboarding kite. This lesson is all about just flying the kite (not riding the board) and we do not use BB talkin headsets or the jetski on this lesson.
Always verify wind speeds and directions before your lesson for optimal learning conditions.
Water temperatures can be cool—wear a wetsuit to stay comfortable during the lesson.
Give yourself time to meet instructors and prepare equipment without rushing.
Bring water to stay hydrated, especially on sunny days with strong winds.
Rodanthe is steeped in Outer Banks maritime history, once a hub for fishing and shipwreck rescue operations along the treacherous coastline.
