About

Has it been more than two years since you've been diving? In order to be sure that you are confident in your scuba skills, you will be required to complete a refresher course. This can be completed at your local scuba center, or at our facility. Our Refresher Course is very thorough without compromising too much of your very valuable vacation time. You can complete this course in one day or divide the pool and boat components into two half days, whichever meets your itinerary. This course is a great value as it does include:

  • Full Gear Rentals
  • Pool Review Session
  • Boat Trip
  • Dive Guide
  • Dive Log

In the pool session, our instructors will help you remember how to evaluate and set up your rental gear properly. We will review the rules of diving and answer any questions that you may have. In the pool, we will review and possibly teach you techniques you may not have learned in your original certification course to further your confidence in the open water. Once you and your instructor are comfortable with the required skills in the water, your instructor will assist you with disassembling your gear. If you are diving in the afternoon you will have time for lunch and reconvene at the shop at 1 pm. The other option is to dive any other day after you have completed the pool session.

The boat trip is simply a guided fun dive. We do not require that you repeat dive skills in the ocean unless you would like to do so. After you have completed this course you are considered to be a current diver and will no longer be required to hire a professional dive guide.

Many parents who have not had the opportunity to dive in many years choose to do this course along with their children doing the "Resort Course." These courses run simultaneously and are a great way to combine certified and non-certified divers. The all-inclusive price for the Refresher Course is $250. You will need to have proof of your original certification. Remember there are strict health guidelines that we must follow for your safety.

Dive Agencies

Tilden's philosophy of teaching is to hone your scuba ability and confidence as a safe, knowledgeable confident diver and buddy. We have no preference as to which agency you choose to represent, as we teach all 3 of them, (NAUI, PADI, SSI) We can accept referral students from any agency as both NAUI and SSI are part of the Universal Referal system. Choosing an agency is a personal choice. Our course is amalgamated to cover all skills from all of the agencies, which makes our student's training as thorough as possible. Although each agency has slightly different learning material, the core requirements of diving are the same.

Here are some of the qualities of each Worldwidely Accepted agencies.

NAUI - Regarded as one of the most thorough academic programs in the industry, Naui will come to you in the form of a traditional book, workbook, tables, and log book. This system is really great for all divers but especially for those wanting the reasons why you do everything.

SSI - Innovative, easy to initiate, Start TODAY with no additional fees. This all-digital system allows you to start your academics today and take them with you on multiple devices. SSI is perfect for all ages and covers the material well without oversimplifying the knowledge. You can preview this course online divessi.com. Once your review is complete you will need to choose Tilden's Scuba Center as your shop to proceed.

PADI - This system can be done online, (which has an additional fee) or per our recommendation, with a traditional learning system. There are 5 chapters in this book that need to have their corresponding " knowledge reviews" completed before completing your traditional lecture with us. PADI was the first to allow 10 yr olds to certify and in that process, has made the academic material a breeze to complete. Please, call before signing up for e-learning as this is a fee from PADI, not Tilden's.

##*If you are booking through Dive Isla Bella, you have been routed to Tilden Scuba Center (our partner) as Dive Isla Bella is not on the property yet.
