History

Key West’s fishing roots trace to wrecking and sponging industries of the 19th century; sport fishing grew with the island’s access to the Gulf Stream and offshore reefs.

Conservation

Respect catch limits and the crew’s guidance on catch‑and‑release; Key West reef habitats are fragile—use reef‑safe sunscreen and avoid anchoring on live coral.

Stabilize your footingNon‑marking, non‑slip deck shoes improve safety and traction on a wet cockpit.
