Tour Description

All tours at Kayak Olowalu are led by expert guides, and last about 2.5 hours. Private tours are available upon request.

Snorkel gear and light refreshments afterwards are included in the tour price. Explore
Maui’s famed Olowalu coast by kayak and then dip into the Pacific Ocean to snorkel and see an abundance of sea life.

Many visitors say our tours were the best part of their Maui experience, perhaps because we operate the only kayak tour on Maui with a private beachfront location. Come discover for yourself the wonders of Olowalu’s pristine coral reef!

The conditions are excellent for viewing exotic reef wild life year round and people visit from all over the world to see whales migrate through our Hawaiian waters just off Olowalu.

Location Description:

Olowalu is a priority site of the Maui Coral Reef Recovery Plan and is supported by the Coral Reef Alliance. With over 30 species of coral, some of which are listed as endangered, Olowalu Reef plays an important role in the local ecosystem. Spawning corals send out polyps that travel as far as Lana’i and Moloka’i, seeding the reefs in these locations. Therefore, Olowalu Reef is considered a mother reef. It is also a cleaning, feeding, and socializing station for the green sea turtle and manta rays.

What to Bring:

  • Environmentally safe sunscreen
  • Sun-protective clothing
  • Underwater camera (optional GoPro rental available for $40 at check-in)
