Duration: 2 Hours

Set out from Wells-next-the-Sea and drift into the winding creeks where the saltmarsh comes alive with birdlife. This relaxed two-hour paddle is a feast for birdwatchers — watch curlews with their distinctive down-curved bills probing the mud, little egrets stepping daintily through the shallows, and oystercatchers calling sharply as they lift into the air.

Depending on the season, you may spot brent geese grazing the marsh, avocets sweeping the water with their upturned bills, or even a marsh harrier gliding low over the reeds. Moving quietly by kayak lets you get closer without disturbing them, making this the perfect blend of paddling and wildlife watching.
