A Katakanu is very safe, stable, and fun boat and the design is based on the idea of two canoes that have been joined together.
The basic equipment hire will consist of a katakanu, paddle(s) and buoyancy aid(s).
All participants will receive a safety induction and some basic training but once you set off from Lomond Shores you will be completely independent and enjoy the freedom to explore Loch Lomond at your own pace.
SUMMER SEASON: Katakanu Hire is available from April to October, from 10:00 to 18:00 [subject to availability].
Q. When do I need to arrive for my booking? A. Please arrive 30 minutes early. This allows time for a safety briefing and demonstration on how to use the equipment. Late arrival could result in the loss of some or all of your allocated time-slot.
Q. I have never done this activity before. Will there be someone there to show me what to do? A. Yes. One of our trained staff will be on hand to give you a safety briefing and demonstration on how to use the equipment.
Q. Do I have to wear a life jacket? A. Yes. Life jackets must be worn at all times; they are provided for your comfort and safety.
Q. Can I hire a wetsuit? A. Wetsuits are not compulsory, but are available to hire for an additional cost of £5 per person.
Q. What is the seating capacity? A. The price is per katakanu and the seating capacity is maximum 6 persons.
Q. What are the age restrictions? A. The minimum age is 3 years. All children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult.
Plan to arrive at Loch Lomond Shores at least 30 minutes before your booking for safety briefings and equipment fitting.
