Morning light slips through tall jackfruit and teak as the group pushes off from a village track 25 km outside Kandy. Tires hum on hard-packed earth, then rattle over stream crossings; the jungle leans in, leaves brushing helmets like a crowd urging riders onward. Early downhill sections open to views of the Knuckles ridges—craggy folds that give the range its name—then narrow again into shaded singletrack.

This is a full-day, 45 km loop with a steep 2.5 km climb; riders should have recent endurance experience and be comfortable with repeated climbs and technical descents.
Beginners with limited off-road experience may struggle on climbs and rocky sections; the guide and backup vehicle can assist, but basic bike handling is required.
Mountain bikes, helmets, a cycling guide, refreshments, a village lunch, first aid and a backup jeep for pick-up or assistance are included.
Morning departures are best to avoid midday heat and afternoon showers; drier months in the hill country (roughly January–April) offer more stable conditions.
