No Experience Required

You leave Accra before dawn, the road folding west toward the edge of Ghana’s Central Region as the Atlantic air sharpens the horizon. By midmorning the canopy closes above you — a corridor of glossy leaves, figs and towering mahogany where the trail smells of loam and warm sap. The seven suspension bridges of Kakum float 30 metres over the forest floor, swaying gently and offering intermittent windows into the understory where birds flash and the forest seems to dare you to look closer.
