A thin ribbon of road climbs out of Kathmandu and the city noise peels away, replaced by the smell of pine resin and cold, clean air. Within an hour you step onto a forest track where the trail threads through oak and rhododendron, opens onto broad grassy ridgelines and gifts a low-angle panorama of the Himalaya. The hike covers roughly 10 km and takes about 3–4 hours, moving between subtropical lower slopes and higher, cooler clearings around the Kakani ridge.
