Before dawn the boat slips away from Iquitos, the river daring you to read its mood by the color of the current. Sunlight will pry through broadleaf canopies as you pass villages and sandbanks; pink dolphins surface like shy punctuation marks. Over the next five days you move deeper—by road to Nauta, then by canoe into the braided channels of Pacaya Samiria National Reserve—where water shapes the land and wildlife sets the pace.

Moderate fitness—able to handle full days of canoeing, several hours of jungle hiking on uneven, wet terrain, and basic camping.
No prior jungle experience is required; experienced guides lead all activities and brief participants on safety and navigation.
All breakfasts, lunches and most dinners are included; nights alternate between community houses with mosquito nets and tent camping on multi-day stretches.
Guides may permit supervised swims in specific calm channels; always follow guide direction because some areas have caimans or strong currents.
