Jonathan Burns: Life of the Party — Live Pillowfight Magic in Glenside

At the Smoke & Mirrors Theater at The House of Magic in Glenside, Pennsylvania, Jonathan Burns ♦ Life of the Party turns a night out into a controlled, glorious mess. Located at 101 S. Easton Rd, Glenside, this two-night run on September 18th & 19th, 2026 brings together sleight of hand, physical comedy, and an audience-driven pillowfight that decides who wins each round. The show blends quick-change magic, pratfalls, and CW’s Bubble Magician in a fast, theatrical tournament where laughter and surprise arrive almost every thirty seconds. The room itself is part of the appeal: a compact performance space that puts you close to the stage, where vintage posters, rigged props, and a low-lit black-box aesthetic focus attention on the performers’ hands and expressions. Key features of the scene are the stage’s intimate sightlines, the improvised pillow battleground, and the variety of props—pillows, bubbles, and trick cards—used to escalate comedic chaos. Audience votes determine the outcome, so attendees are not passive observers but active participants in the show’s momentum. Jonathan Burns brings TV-honed polish to the mayhem. He’s a veteran of America’s Got Talent, Fool Us, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Late, Late Show with James Corden, and he leans on that experience to keep the pace taut and the surprises frequent. The Bubble Magician from CW is another highlight—an unusual visual counterpoint to the physical slapstick—so the evening combines visual wonder, modern stagecraft, and old-fashioned vaudeville timing. Practical details matter: this is a 16+ event, tickets range from $35 to $45, and check-in is at the Smoke & Mirrors Theater @ The House of Magic. Reasonable footwear and a sense of humor will improve your night; if you prefer restrained viewing, request seating away from the center aisle. For photographers, expect low light and dynamic motion—flash can disrupt performers and fellow audience members. Why book this when visiting Glenside? It’s a rare live variety experience in a suburban Philadelphia pocket where professional touring magicians try experimental bits on an engaged, small-stage crowd. The show is a standout because it turns typical magic-show passivity into audience-ruled comedy, and because the House of Magic’s address at 101 S. Easton Rd keeps it accessible from nearby Philadelphia. If you want an evening where the line between stage and audience dissolves into laughter and flying pillows, this is the ticket. Arrive at least 20 minutes early to secure preferred seating and to enjoy the lobby atmosphere; the box office opens before showtime and staff often answer questions about late seating. Public parking is available along Easton Road and nearby municipal lots; rideshare services drop off close to theater entrance. Expect high-energy audience interaction—bring patience and readiness to cheer loudly.
