John Prather Live at Singing Water Vineyards — Free Summer Concert in Comfort, TX

On a lazy summer afternoon in Comfort, Texas, the wooden stage at Singing Water Vineyards comes alive with John Prather's voice. Located at Singing Water Vineyards 316 Mill Dam Rd., Comfort, TX, this free performance on Saturday, July 25th from 1–4pm CDT invites families, road trippers, and Hill Country regulars to linger among gnarled vines and limestone outcrops. Prather blends original songs and well-chosen covers into a set that feels like a conversation: warm, unvarnished, and rooted in Austin-to-Hill Country songwriting traditions. The setting is as much a reason to come as the music. The property sits on gently rolling terrain above Mill Dam, where cedar and live oak frame rows of grapes and a tasting patio that catches late-afternoon light. Stone and limestone gravel underfoot, native grasses, and the occasional scent of crushed juniper make the scene distinct to this part of the Texas Hill Country. Expect to see kestrels or red-tailed hawks quartering the sky and, if you arrive early, a few white-tailed deer slipping through the hedgerows. This event is uncomplicated and visitor-friendly: no tickets required, simply bring a blanket or low chair, sunscreen, and a picnic if you like. Food and beverage policies may vary; check with the vineyard before bringing alcohol. The crowd leans local—neighbors, weekend travelers, and families—so the vibe is relaxed and communal, with plenty of space to spread out on the lawn. Photographers and social media storytellers will find sharp contrasts between shaded seating, sunlit vine rows, and the textured stage backdrop; aim for wide frames during soundchecks and close portraits during quieter songs. Accessibility information is limited; if mobility is a concern, contact the vineyard ahead of time. Why go? Beyond the setlist, an afternoon like this is an entry point into Comfort’s slower rhythm—small-town streets, historic buildings, and a string of family-run wineries. Singing Water Vineyards, at the heart of that scene, becomes a place to slow down, hear a local voice, and sample Hill Country terroir between songs. Practical: arrive early to claim a spot, plan for Texas heat with hydration and sun protection, and respect the venue’s property. For travelers staying overnight, Comfort offers charming lodgings and easy access from Interstate 10. John Prather at Singing Water Vineyards is the kind of free, well-scaled show that reminds you why live music and open-air venues remain essential to local outdoor culture. Bring cash for on-site purchases and, if you plan to taste, designate a sober driver or book a local ride. Pets may be allowed; check policies. If storms threaten, call ahead—the vineyard posts event updates. Whether you're a local or passing through on a Texas Hill Country loop, this concert is an accessible, authentic slice of regional life.
