Can I bring a passenger or switch drivers?

Yes — prices are per jet ski and most operators allow a passenger and driver swaps without extra charge, but confirm weight limits before boarding.

What should I bring on the day?

Bring ID (passport often requested), swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a towel and a waterproof case for phones or leave valuables with the operator.

Are there age or health restrictions?

Operators typically require drivers to meet a minimum age (often 16–18) and exclude pregnant travelers or those with serious back or spinal conditions; check the booking terms for exact rules.

History

Dubai’s coastal identity began with pearling and fishing; rapid urban development over the last 50 years transformed shallow shoals into luxury beaches and man-made islands.

Conservation

Operators enforce no-go zones to protect swimmers and sensitive marine areas; riders should use reef-safe products and avoid littering to minimize impact.

Adventure tips

Arrive early for calmer waterMorning sea is usually flatter and less crowded, which makes learning throttle and turns easier. Less chop also means clearer photos of the Burj Al Arab.

Protect against sun and sprayUse reef-safe SPF 50, a hat for transit, and a snap-on neoprene strap for sunglasses to avoid losing gear at speed.

Listen to the safety briefingBriefings cover the kill switch, right-of-way on water and no-entry zones—follow them closely to avoid collisions or fines.

Swap drivers smartlyIf sharing one jet ski, switch while stationary in calm water near the operator’s boat to avoid instability and falls.

Recommended gear

USCG-approved life jacket: Provided by operators but wearing a properly fitted jacket is mandatory for safety.
Reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 30+): Protects skin from intense sun and reduces chemical impact on coastal waters.
Secure water shoes: Protect feet when boarding and make standing on wet surfaces more stable.
Polarized sunglasses with retention strap: Reduces glare for better visibility and keeps eyes comfortable on bright water.
