History

Dubai’s coastline shifted from pearling and fishing villages to engineered beaches and luxury hotels over the last century; the Burj Al Arab opened in 1999 as a symbol of that rapid transformation.

Conservation

Choose operators that respect swimmer zones and use reef-safe sunscreen; avoid littering and keep distance from any wildlife to reduce disturbance.
