Standing at the Jebel Shams trailhead, the Balcony Walk unfurls along a razor-edge of limestone; the canyon below seems intent on swallowing sound. The day moves from quiet ridge hiking to the focused rhythm of iron rungs and steel cables as the Via Ferrata draws you up the final 200 m of vertical rock.

You should have good cardiovascular fitness, comfort on exposed narrow trails and the ability to scramble with an hour at sustained effort; moderate-to-strong leg strength helps.
No prior climbing experience is required; certified guides provide helmet/harness fit, gear and instruction on via-ferrata clipping and movement.
Participants should be in good cardiovascular health; the operator requests weight and age details and doesn’t recommend the activity for those with serious heart or spinal conditions or pregnant travelers.
With pickup from Muscat the total door-to-door time can be around 11 hours; the adventure portion is typically 4–5 hours on the mountain.
