A hush falls over the birch-and-pine hills as your sleigh glides out of Ivalo under a low winter sun. Snow crunches, the engine hums a short, steady rhythm, and the world narrows to the white-edged trail and a sky that, after dark, may flare with green light. You ride in a warmed sleigh behind a snowmobile toward the edge of the Hammastunturi Wilderness Area, pausing by a small fire to grill sausages and lift steaming cups against the cold.

Yes; the activity is described as suitable for all fitness levels, but confirm age and seating arrangements with the operator at booking.
Northern lights are possible but not guaranteed—sightings depend on clear skies and geomagnetic activity; guides will stop for viewing when conditions permit.

Hammastunturi and surrounding fells were historically used as seasonal routes for Sami reindeer herding; the landscape preserves traces of long-term human adaptation to Arctic winters.
Visitors are asked to minimize fire impact and pack out all waste; operators follow local guidelines to protect lichen and reindeer grazing areas.
