About

The Introductory Experience is the best introduction to hang gliding. You will fly your first flights in a controlled environment under expert supervision, surfing the slopes of our bunny hills only about 5 to 10 feet above the ground. You will get five opportunities to fly solo from our small hill with a certified instructor guiding you step by step. After your morning session, you will fly tandem with an instructor by your side to an altitude of either 1,500 or 3,000 feet above the beautiful Lookout Valley. Because of your experience on the bunny hill, you will have more knowledge and experience to pilot the glider during flight. Afterward, you'll be able to say you flew a hang glider all by yourself!

Our Introductory Experience's Ground School will teach you the basics of hang glider safety, foot-launching, and flying. It includes:

  • A three-hour lesson including ground runs and up to 5 flights on our beautiful bunny hills; weather permitting
  • One instructional tandem flight to 1,500 or 3,000 feet
  • Unforgettable memories and the sensation of flying all by yourself!

Thank you for choosing Lookout Mountain Flight Park. We look forward to having you as our guest!

What to Bring

  • Well-rested legs ready to gently run 10-15 yards with each flight
  • Athletic shoes that can get wet as our hills are often damp in the morning
  • Long pants you are comfortable getting a little dirty
  • A change of clothes never hurt, especially if it has rained recently
  • Sunglasses
  • Water/Sunscreen/Snacks
  • An extra layer for your tandem flight (it will be a similar temperature to riding in a convertible)
  • Friends, family, smiles

Your safety is our number one concern; inclement weather may, therefore, force us to reschedule. Don't worry though, your ticket is good for two full years and fully transferrable!
