You step off a busy New York sidewalk and into a room built for sound: wood panels, racks of outboard gear, and a console with meters that pulse like a city's heartbeat. The tutor—an industry producer with more than a decade in studios—starts with a quick tour of Mercy Sound Studios, then invites you behind the desk to build a beat from scratch, program parts, and record vocals or an instrument within a two-hour private session.
